Dot SE Domain Names

The dot SE country-specific top-level domain name extension was started in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration process was pretty restrictive, so a very limited number of domains were secured. Persons were allowed to reserve no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a prerequisite, i.e. only Swedish individuals, business entities and organizations could purchase a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized notably and, as a consequence, the number of dot SE domains has been growing each year.

At present, anyone can acquire a dot SE domain, which gives you the opportunity to contact the Swedish WWW community even if you do not have a local presence.
