Dot NAME Domain Names

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME top-level domain name extension is the sole TLD meant for personal websites only. These domains can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you desired to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already purchased 3rd-level names remained online.
